Tidewater Tech Chesapeake Campus Enjoys a Day at the Spa
Students and Staff were treated to a day of pure pampering. Complete with paraffin waxing, honey facials, and massages. As you can tell by the picture everyone had a grand time! Students performed Ear Candling, an ancient form of medicine that cleanses toxins out of the ear canals and helps with sinus problems, ear infections and ear wax build up. The cone is muslin material coated with a non drip paraffin wax that creates a chimney affect and gently draws toxic material out of the hollow candle.
Students practiced massage techniques in the lab and learned to effectively support people on the table in different positions. This prompted students to pay attention to special adaptations such as pregnancy, lung problems and/or other physical reasons to reposition people to make them comfortable during their massage. Massage therapy students also performed Honey Facials, a natural cleansing and toning regimen using honey and warm towels to cleanse and tone the skin.
